Take Note of These Hood Canal Bridge Closings This Summer

Plans have been cancelled to close the Hood Canal Bridge over four full weekends in July and August. However, a schedule has been released for overnight closings that might affect students coming to Port Townsend from Seattle, Tacoma or other points east.

Weather permitting, the bridge will close in May and June at night for the following durations:

May 20 to May 24

  • 10 p.m. Saturday, May 20, to 10 a.m. Sunday, May 21

  • 11 p.m. Monday, May 22, to 4 a.m. Tuesday, May 23

  • 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, to 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 24

  • 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, to 4 a.m. Thursday, May 25

June 10 to June 14

  • 10 p.m. Saturday, June 10, to 10 a.m. Sunday, June 11

  • 11 p.m. Monday, June 12, to 4 a.m. Tuesday, June 13

  • 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, to 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 14

  • 11 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, to 4 a.m. Thursday, June 15

June 17 to June 21

  • 10 p.m. Saturday, June 17, to 10 a.m. Sunday, June 18

  • 11 p.m. Monday, June 19, to 4 a.m. Tuesday, June 20

  • 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, to 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 21

  • 11 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, to 4 a.m. Thursday, June 22

The bridge work is needed so that Transportation Department crews can strengthen sections of the floating bridge that help it withstand pressure from tides and winds, and also open for marine traffic.
