Are you looking for a way to get involved, contribute to a community-oriented project, all while learning and practicing some valuable skills? PTSW is embarking on a first of what will hopefully become a new series of classes, focused on building projects that serve a variety of community needs, while creating an opportunity for learning with a lower cost of entry. While our typical course offerings include a student project, this series will focus on a group project that everyone will be contributing to build. Come work with experienced and dedicated woodworkers, and get a sneak peek behind the scenes. Ask questions, work as a team, and build community with us in this fun and supportive environment.

In this first run, we’ll be building some cabinets for tool storage right here at the woodworking school! Learn from local professional cabinet makers, Trent Waneka and Mark Sabella. With a combined 50 years of experience, they provide a solid foundation in the basics of cabinet making. All processes will be demonstrated and scaled with the home woodworker in mind. Not everyone has a sliding table saw or a line boring machine, but small home cabinetry projects can still be accomplished with more accessible tools.

Topics that will be covered will include:

  • Reading the room and measuring

  • Case construction

  • Basic milling

  • Face frames
