Tuition & Registration Process for Intensives

Tuition and Registration Policies

Tuition

Starting in the Fall 2025 session, total tuition for the 12-week intensives, Foundations of Woodworking I and Foundations of Woodworking II, is $9,270. This includes $400 for materials and a $75 non-refundable registration fee.

Julia, Foundations Scholarship Recipient

Beginning in Fall 2026, total tuition for the intensives is as follows:

3-month Intensive

  • Tuition - $10,500

  • Materials fee - $400

  • Registration fee - $75

6-month Intensive

  • Tuition - $18,500

  • Materials fee - $400

  • Registration fee - $75

Materials

A materials deposit of $400 is required. For Foundations of Woodworking I, this will typically cover all of a student's materials fees for the course. For Foundations of Woodworking II, students tend to spend more than $400 on materials; these costs are typically processed through materials suppliers locally and at the discretion of each student. Any unused materials deposit will be returned at the end of the course. You may use the materials deposit to buy books, finishes, wood, fasteners, and hardware from PTSW.

Students using the Veterans Education benefits will pay for books out of pocket using the books and supplies stipend sent directly to them from the VA..

Registration

The registration process is initiated after the student is offered and accepts a spot in the program. Registration is managed by our Registrar and processed through the Active Network, our registration software. Questions can be addressed to registrar@ptwoodschool.org.

Payment

  • The registration fee and deposit of 10% of the tuition are due upon registration.

  • The second deposit of 30% of the tuition is due 90 days before the course start date.

  • The full payment (the remaining 60%) of tuition is due 60 days prior to the course start date.

Due to the high cost of credit card processing fees, we ask that students make the final or largest payment by personal check, money order or bank check and mail it to: Port Townsend School of Woodworking, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend, WA 98368.

Please note that all courses are subject to a sales tax.

Refund & Cancellation Policies

  • The $75 registration fee is non-refundable.

  • If you withdraw from an intensive course more than 60 days in advance, we will refund your tuition minus half of your 10% deposit.

  • No refund will be given for withdrawal within 60 days of the course and full payment will be due.

  • If PTSW must cancel an intensive, though unlikely, the tuition deposit will be promptly refunded.

  • The materials deposit of $400 is fully refundable if you withdraw from a course more than 30 days in advance.

Students using VA funding are subject to an alternate refund schedule as detailed in our VA catalog.
