The Port Townsend School of Woodworking is pleased to partner with 4-H Youth Development to offer woodworking activities for kids. John Edwards has taught youth classes for more than five years at the school.
This week-long youth class for ages 10 through 18 will investigate the techniques
for building skim boards & skate board decks. The techniques we'll practice
will be with solid wood, plywood and the vacuum bag method. The
exercise will be to build both a skim board, and a skate board deck ready for
trucks & wheels.
The class will give the students the opportunity to design, laminate
and build their own unique wood decks. Methods will include solid
and laminated boards with an emphasis on creativity. The boards will be
constructed, decorated and finished. The skate board decks will be prepared for trucks
and wheels. The trucks and wheels are the responsibility of the individual
student and installed at home. This class will emphasize and focus on the board,
with all its possibilities.
No tools are required for this class. Just come and have fun!
Kids ages 10 - 18 years of age. Class is limited to 8 students.
