Jewelry Making: Pins, Pendants, and Earrings

This 2 day class will cover colorful lamination techniques to produce wooden jewelry.  Have fun playing with patterns to create pins, pendants, and earrings.

To make these pieces, students will learn how to construct laminated blocks with 5 different species of wood and veneers and then slice, re-arrange and glue them back together into small blocks.  These blocks will be sliced on the band saw to produce these different items. You will go home with finished pieces ready to wear.

Skills developed: cutting multiple slices on the chop saw, slicing and shaping cuts on the band saw, clamping techniques with fence and stop blocks, sanding to size, boring for findings, finishing with spray lacquer.

Machines covered: band saw, chop saw, sanders and small drill press.

No tools are required for this class. All materials are provided.

This class is open to all levels. There are no prerequisites.
