Build a Skateboard

Build and decorate your own skateboard!  For kids ages 10+. In partnership with the East Jefferson County YMCA. 5 day class for youth with John Edwards.

Build a Skateboard

Youth ages 10+

The class is taught by John Edwards. John teaches a variety of youth oriented woodworking classes in East Jefferson County and Port Townsend.

In this 4 day class for young people ages 10 through 18, students will have the opportunity to design and build their own unique wood skateboards. Methods will include solid and laminated boards with an emphasis on creativity. The boards will be constructed, decorated, finished and prepped for trucks and wheels. The trucks and wheels are to be added later; selection and purchase will be the responsibility of the individual student. This class will emphasize and focus on the board, with all its possibilities.

See more photos from last year's class!

All tools are provided. After teaching this class last year, we decided to let students select and purchase their own trucks and wheels. You can either bring them with you to the class or build the board and attach them later. If you have any questions about finding trucks, please contact John Edwards for suggestions.
