Build a Musical Instrument

About

In this 5 day class for young people ages 10+, students will have the opportunity to explore, design, and build their own unique stringed musical instruments. Methods will include constructed, carved or laminated sound boxes and the attachment of a finger board. The instruments will be constructed, decorated, finished and strung with any number of fixed or adjustable strings. Instrument configuration could include neck instruments similar to banjos and ukuleles or platform instruments such as the harp and psaltry. Students will have the freedom to be creative with design and construction. This class will include reference to the history and origin of instrument design that can be applied to the students’ instrument designs.

Class run from 10:00am to 4:00pm each day.  
This class takes place in Building 304 at Fort Worden - not the School Building. Map
